The Colorado River is awesome! It generally has been fishing well all year, especially floating it from Pumphouse. However, if you are planning to fish the popular wading sections between basically Grandby to Kremmling be prepared for some tougher fishing. We ventured into these waters last weekend and early this week and saw lots of hatches but hardly any fish really willing to cooperate. I think the fact that by 6:00 am every morning there were guys lined up every 20 yards up and down the public water sections probably had a lot to do with it. This included guides with multiple person parties. Even though it was pressured, we were having fun camping in the area so we gave it a shot anyways. For this report all I can say is don't be afraid to throw a streamer. We found pockets, runs and pools that were deeper and basically dead drifted streamers like the Slumpbuster off the bottom and got a few nice Browns to strike! If it's hot out throw some hoppers! Good luck if your headed that way!
