Prime Time Permit and Bonefish

August 10, 2016

As summer rolls along the permit and bonefish fishing continues to be good. Weather fly or spin fishing Biscayne Bay is a fishery known for being one of the best locations to catch these elusive species. We are now into the time of the year when the high tides are the highest of the year and peaks in October. The reason this is good is that when there is more water on the flats permit and bonefish seek those crowns on the flats where they are more comfortable to feed.

Recently Quintin Hall celebrated his birthday fishing and went 3 for 3 on permit and added a nice bonefish using a spinning rod and live crabs and shrimp. Also, Larry Jones and Nicole Young had a great day with multiple shots at both species. Larry had an off day with his casting but eventually managed to present a live crab to a nice permit. Nicole placed he shrimp in the middle of a school of 30 bonefish and was awarded with her first healthy 6 lb Grey Ghost.
