Find Your Fall Fishing FixOctober 06, 2017
We're going to keep this Montana fishing report short and sweet, just like the days of October fishing in the Big Sky state. Hope you enjoy the new MFO video above, we sure had fun making it. Here's what you need to know about fishing in Montana for the next 4-6 weeks, which is about what we have left for the season:
Summer is long gone! After one of the hottest and smokiest summer seasons we have ever seen, the snows of September put out all the fires and brought the temperatures back into the more than reasonable range. It has been downright pleasant for the last few weeks, and the nights have that nice chill that makes you appreciate the afternoon warmth on a sunny day.
Fall fishing is fantastic! The cool weather triggered the fall feeding frenzy out trout have been waiting for. Afternoon mayfly hatches have been thick on most rivers, and they should only get more intense as we head toward November.
Autumn trout are in their prime, and they like to sleep in! The best part about late season fishing is that the trout are as robust as they get all year long, and with cooler water temps you don't have to be on the water early to catch them. It's an afternoon show on the river right now, and when they turn on it's lights out.
We'll be here fishing away for the rest of October and into November, so if you want one last fish fling for 2017 let us know and we'll handle the details.
