Florida Keys Fishing Report

August 03, 2016

This past week it was all about the Lobster. Mini season in the Florida Keys is close to being a holiday.

Capt. Jason With Boneafide Fishing Charters knocked it out of the park by limiting out both days. Regular lobster season opens August 6th through March 31.

Back Country and flats fishing is exceptionally lively along the back side of Big Pine Key and surrounding mangrove islands.

Tarpon, bonefish, permit, redfish are all in sight and waiting for you to cast them a line.

The offshore fishing has been less than ideal.

I highly recommend either bridge fishing or wreck fishing.

We caught tilefish and grouper deep dropping but it is hostile conditions out there.

We also managed to find a couple dolphin in about 900 ft of water. The dolphin bite has been hit or miss.

My advice to anglers coming down to fish the Florida Keys would be to save your money, fish inshore or try your hand at catching those delicious lobsters.

We offer fly fishing, light tackle, spearfishing, snorkeling and flats fishing.
