Not Action On Da BayouJune 16, 2016
Got a call from Travis with Bayou Boy Coolers, Icey Tek, last week, there at an outdoors show in New Orleans all weekend and wanted to finish with a fishing trip Monday.
After weather and draw bridge delays we loaded the Blue Wave and departed The Reel Inn about 7:30 to deal with Mother Nature and catch what we can.. We decided to start inshore and try for Bull Reds and Drum while the weather cleared offshore. Tide wasn't moving at all, we didn't get any reds but they did get to fight some big nasty Black Drum. Lol
Around 9:30 it looked clear enough offshore to give the trout a try so we headed south. Action was slow, we covered a lot of ground and managed to get about 30 very nice trout. About 1 pm we decided we had enough trout but, wanted to try one more time for a Bull Red. We headed north but before we could reach the Bull Red spot the sky turned black with lightning popping! Using every one of those 300 Yamaha horses I managed to get around that storm and beat it to the dock without a second to spare, 10 more horses would have felt a little better. Lol
We worked with Mother Nature and put together a nice mess of fish and kept everyone safe and dry and had fun doing it!
I was impressed with the coolers they brought on board and looking forward to trying one!
