Fishing report for Long Island Sound 5/6/2016May 06, 2016
What we've been hearing from the North Shore:
Lots of short (schoolie) bass being caught in the harbors- Cold Spring, Mt. Sinai, Huntington, Northport. We hear there are larger bass to the west, including a few keepers. Fluke is also starting to pick up off of Cold Spring Harbor with keepers being caught off of Kings Park. Lloyd Harbor, Mt. Sinai, Duck Island, and Centerport have also been seeing flounder. Lots of porgy action on the eastern end of the island.
Reports coming in from Connecticut:
A number of CT outfitters are just beginning their season over the next few weekends. Black sea bass season just opened up on May 1st and this year they're allowing up to 8 fish per angler on charters and party boats. Porgies (scup) opened on May 1st as well. Fluke will open May 17. There have been some larger 20-30lb + bass being caught out in the deeper water between Stamford and Norwalk. Lots of schoolies in the eastern part of the sound.
