Ready for the swim to the gulfJuly 18, 2016
The Team here at Bourgeois Fishing Charters have enjoyed catching redfish by working the shoreline of the North Barataria Basin. There are miles of shoreline the redfish are feeding from. This time of the year the reds are preparing to move south to spawn and need all the energy they can store up, so the bite is pretty good right now. We have been using gold spoons, Bombers new Drumbeater spinner-bait with black and chartreuse trailer. A few Captains have reported good stringers on chatter-baits with chartreuse trailers.
You can cruise the lake-shores and look for current moving around points and cuts and look for the excited water (bait movement) and wind stacked shorelines. Start off fan casting those areas and note where you catch fish and try to duplicate further down the shore line.
