Back to Normal Fishing @ the San Juan RiverJuly 23, 2016
The river has come down to about 700 cfs. The fish are slowly returning to their regularly scheduled programming. Much of the flooded areas are now dry and the mosquito situation is serious, BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT! The days have been hot as well, so sun screen and a wide brimmed hat would be a good idea as well.
The fish have been biting on red larva and black midges. I've had reports of every type of fly fishing you can imagine. Streamer fishing in the evening, hoppers in the dark, nymphs in the morning, dry fly action in the afternoon are all viable fish catching avenues lately.
So come out and fish. Stay with us at Fisheads lodge and eat at our gourmet restaurant open 6am to 10pm daily.
