Dawn till DuskAugust 02, 2016
Hitting up the Eagle right now and the early morning and power hour before dark have been real fun with dry flies. Tricos and RS2s have worked well in the morning. In the evening power hour, the fish have been moving from the riffles to the pools. I've started out with nymphs in the riffles and have been using flies like the beadhead flashback pheasant tail (old favorite) with good results. The fish seem to be keying in on flies with green flash and or green colors when nymphing. As the light gets darker, the activity near the pools and tailouts increases making for some fun late evening dry fly action. PMDs, Caddis, and Yellow Sallies. I usually start with a dry dropper combo which sets me up to switch to a dry-dry combo at last light. As the visibility goes to zero we have had good luck setting the hook when you hear the splash!
