Junk Fish? Yeah Right.

July 04, 2017

In the last 5 to 8 years maybe more, Carp species have been gaining a craze on the fly. Most people seem to think Carp species are junk fish, eat garbage, ruin ecosystems and push more popular game fish away.

While some species of Carp can severely damage ecosystems. I.E.silver carp and black carp are super super invasive.

Common carp, Suckers and Quill backs are awesome to pursue on the fly. These fish eat primarily nymphs, crayfish, leeches and even minnows. Seeing a tailing fish that's stuffing its face filtering through sand or silt is half the battle. Toss your fly in its feeding lane and hold on!

Even seeing a holding fish not feeding still cast to it. I've had times where fish will instantly be like a magnet to the fly and chase it and the rush you get is unbelievable.

So get out there and give Carp a try. You won't regret it. I promise.
