Fly fishing Around SeattleJuly 31, 2016
Seattle is a sizeable urban area with unbelievable proximity to some terrific fly fishing without having to drive great distances. The forks of the Snoqualmie River are wonderful small stream fishing destinations for native rainbow and cutthroat trout.
This time of year flows are down quite low allowing anglers easy access to miles of water by walk and wading up and downstream from access points. Gin clear water surrounded by evergreen forests and wild trout awaiting their next meal to come floating by, it is pretty hard to beat especially when these are a mere 30-40 minutes from downtown Seattle.
Hatches range from small stone flies, sulfurs and PMD's to caddis in the evenings but no matter what the hatch, the fish are willing participant for even the novice fly angler.
We recommend 2-3 wt rods or glass rods to better enjoy the smaller sized water and fish and also to more easily help keep the fish in the water on startled hook sets! Let us know if we can help you enjoy this wonderful resource just outside of downtown.
