All smiles on the Fury Sportfishing getting after the calicos #danawharfsportfishing
For us our fishing this week was pretty standard May fishing.
Along the coast in half day zone we continued to see things perk up. The local calico bass fishing has continued to gain some momentum with water temps in the 63°-64° range. A little hiccup with some wind and weather dropped it a bit but it’s seemed to bounce back rather well. Flylined sardines were a big part of the catching equation for us and a lot of our die hard bass only regulars had success with the rubber lures and surface iron.
Stretching out to our 3/4 day zones down deep off SanO and Box Canyon the bottom fish still provided best opportunity. Again very good and consistent fishing with a lot of very nice reds and grouper. After catching what we need on the rockfish we’ve been able to load up some sculpin and white fish to round out those efforts.
The Fury has continued to find success over at Clemente. The yellowtail action was good for them yesterday. They ended their day over there with just under 40 yellows. Some other good sign over there as well with the bass finally waking up and some of that yellow on the spots. The barracuda and bonito are in scattered schools around the island too and providing shots at them during the day as well.
Twilight fishing this week provided some positive signal as well. The evening bass action has been fun. Similar to the half day rundown, the flylined sardines were where it’s at with catching a few bass before dark. A little action over some deeper rocks provided some chances too. Definitely need to see the water warm up a bit more but it’s certainly been picking up speed. Twilight's on the books every night now.
Half-Priced Tuesday kicks off tomorrow with the usual great deals! Half off on all 1/2 day, 3/4 day and twilight trips! Call 888-224-0603 or go online through to book your spots! #DanaWharfSportfishing
