A quick trip down the river got Jake Mehegan his first Salmon River steelhead!

Jake and his Grandfather Jim Mehegan have fished with me on my big boats for years. They also volunteer a great amount ot time and manage the Sodus Bay Net Pens for the last few years along with helping with the pens in Oswego.

Got it on a 3.0 Mag Lip.

All set up for the NWTF Outfitter Weekend at Cabelas in East Hartford, CT. I'll be here during store hours through Sunday afternoon if anyone wants to stop by and say hi.

Saturday night is the NWTF banquet which will have door prizes, raffles, and an auction of donated trips from myself and the other outfitters involved in the event.

Tickets for the dinner may still be available.

I hope to see some of you here this weekend!
Happy New Year to everyone!

This is a picture I took of Oswego Harbor today, January 1, 2018! Its hard to imagine that in just 3 months, I'll be fishing brown trout in this very same view!

As I sat in the truck at the overlook above the Marina today, I couldn't help but reflect upon the 2017 Season. It was certainly my busiest season to date. I had some very awesome groups this year.

I'm not talking about piles of fish like my Spring trout fishing or the amazing evening king bite in late August and September. Or any of the other great days offshore or even fishing summer browns when I had to because of short weather windows on a couple days.

I'm reminiscing about my experiences with my Client's themselves. Things like whenever one crew threw hot dogs on the grill, a rod would go off; joking about the big green blinky, how they can sell fishermen anything...putting it down on its maiden voyage and then not being able to keep it down for an hour (to my disbelief); a few different groups of Russians taking pictures with Chernobyl in the back ground; the Philipino ladies who had me laughing so hard on the dock that my stomach hurt and we couldn't even fish that morning due to weather; I can go on and on... wait... one more... Leo in the bikini top (that's all I'm saying about that trip! You guys know who you are!)

These memories show me that my business is really much more than my job, it is my life and I'm thankful that all of you have been and are part of it. It means a lot to me.

This reminds me of when Bill and Randy gave Hank Searles the collage of pictures from chartering with Hank for 20 plus years. That showed me that we develop relationships with our Clients on a personal level also, way beyond business. That is certainly happening with my groups!

I had an awesome 2017 Season, and actually the last 8 seasons! I can't wait to see what 2018 brings! Don't hesitate to start booking your dates now, especially for weekend days.

In the meantime, it is going to blow and snow and I'm just going to have to steelhead fish in the drift boat on the Salmon River...trips are available!

Thank you again everyone!

Capt. Andy

2017 was an amazing season and I hope to see everyone in 2018! I appreciate everyone's business and I can't wait for April brown trout already!

Be safe and enjoy the winter!

Thanks, Capt. Andy
