“No, really, it was this big. Here is a photo of it” said this young angler who braved the elements to try her skill at ice fishing with Jim, our fly fishing guide, and was rewarded with this beauty.
C.G. Dorn in his book of poetry described Glendorn as “a rest where youthful love may talk.” The winter months at Glendorn have always been associated with falling in love. We can set the stage for your romantic stay with multi-course candle-lit dinners, suites and cabins with at least one wood-burning fireplace, and couples activities such as cross-country skiing, couple’s massages, and moon-lit ice skating on Skipper Lake. Please visit our packages page for our Winter Retreat, Cabin Fever and Valentine’s Week packages. Tucked away under a blanket of fresh snow in our winter wonderland is what Valentine’s Day is supposed to be, whether you are falling in love for the first time or all over again, just as C.G would have wanted.
As 2016 comes to a close, we are reminded of what a special year it was for Glendorn. We could not have done it without you! It's because of you that we strive to deliver the very best and most authentic experience every day, with adventure and family at the core of everything we do. To our guests, our wonderful staff, our purveyors and local contractors, we send our best wishes for a healthy & happy 2017.
For all the unforgettable moments—in nature, in adventure, and with family—we feel privileged to share in them as part of your Glendorn experience.
From our family to yours, wishing you a holiday season of unforgettable moments, and a happy and healthy 2017.

The Welcome Window: Since 1929, if the light of the Big House Welcome Window was lit, it was a signal that the family was home and all were welcomed. Today, we continue this tradition welcoming family and friends from around the world. Wherever your travels take you this holiday season we hope you have a “welcome window” of your own surrounded by family, friends, and good cheer. Safe travels to all this week.
The stately gates at Glendorn welcoming family and friends gathered to celebrate Christmas each year.
Since 1929 a majestic Christmas Tree has adorned the Big House. The tradition continues. Judy and her team of elves have out done themselves again this year!
Giving thanks whether gathering with family, or friends who’ve become family, is the central theme of our holiday weekend. A taste of our traditional dinner from Chef Kate Steffan and Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Glendorn!
Foreground: L to R: C.G. “Bondieu” Dorn, Forest Dorn, along with Voil Johnson (Estate Superintendent) over-seeing the construction of the Hideout in 1931.
