A big thank you, and shout out to Trevor Haze on the hand made Musky bucktails he put together for me. I finally had the opportunity to use them this past weekend, while filming a Musky episode for the Shaun Rickard's Outdoor Adventures YouTube channel. These 12 inch Musky magnets are awesome. I had four fish hit the one seen in the picture here on the first day of filming, landing two of them, and had 3 other decent fish follow it up to the boat but wouldn't hit, one of which was well over 45 inches. Unfortunately I ended up losing the bucktail pictured here to a cut in my braid, likely from a Zebra Mussel while fishing over rocks. Trevor, next time you are making a batch, PLEASE put me down for two of the model seen in the picture here... I want a back up next time lol! Cheers!
Another very bumpy, yet productive morning on Lake Ontario, this time filming with my buddy Kevin Wong. No fish pictures I'm afraid, you will have to wait to see the episode on YouTube when it goes live. We ended up 4 for 9, pretty terrible batting average, but a few of the fish we lost made some amazing runs and screamed off taking 200ft to 300ft of line at a time 😎
The Home Doctor rig will not be getting wet today. A lot of planning and rigging went on yesterday, both with the Salmon gear and camera equipment, only to be kyboshed by Mother Nature this morning. Arriving to find the gate at the ramp still locked at 5.45am was my first clue, and then hearing big waves crashing on the beach was enough to know that fishing and filming the last day of the Great Ontario Salmon Derby was not happening as planned today. It's too bad, but that's what fishing the Great Lakes is like, sometimes you get calm seas and perfect conditions, and other times these massive bodies of water just crush your hopes like a flea. Good luck to all who are fortunate enough to make it out today, and we shall see you out there again next year. Cheers!
