Memorial Day 5.26

OIFC put together a super group for us today.

The sign of dolphin to the south yesterday was bleak and with dozens of boats ahead of us we decided to make a bottom drop first. It took a while but we caught a limit of tilefish.

After that we caught a small mako. Missed a big one. Caught 3 nice dolphin and saw a big blue marlin briefly.

We appreciate our guys good spirits today. We tried hard but sometimes fishing ain't catching. We had beautiful weather for sure

Thanks to all that have served our country. As the son of a retired USMC Lt Col I am very proud of my Dad and am humbled at the thought of his sacrifices !!

It's always a good time to thank and remember our bravest.

Thanks for checking in
Bakers Gaffers.

We had our great friends the Bakers today !! We headed east in search of a mixed bag We ended up way out east of the inlet looking for gaffer dolphin.

We never found the sharp break we were hoping for but we hung in there and scrapped out a nice catch of big dolphin. I think Hannah caught the biggest dolphin and even helped throw the fish out of the box. Not bad for 9 years old. She could be a good mate in a few years for sure !!!

Beautiful weather and good friends.

Life is good Thanks for checking in
Seafood Buffet. Boxfull on 5.24.14

Thanks to Brad and the guys from Rockingham NC for today's voyage.
The cold front provided plenty choppy conditions but the guys all handled it well.
We were blessed with a pile of action round lunchtime.

At one point we had 11 big gaffers on at once. Wow.

Then we managed to free gaff a 120 pound mako that was eating the tail off our tuna.

The 4 nice yellowfin will go nicely on the grill too.

What a day Tight lines
122 lb Bigeye. Big yellowfins 5.23.14

Thanks to our friend Ken for organizing today's trip !!! Because of the NNW wind hitting early in the day we decided to go east w the tuna fleet.

After a slow morning our persistence paid off with a 122 lb bigeye and some nice 50 - 60 pound class yellowfin.

Special congrats to Eric on his first citation bigeye. Always fun having this crew on board.

We are still open this Monday and the weather looks great.

Epic Gaffer Fishing on 5.22.14

Thanks to Dave and his great crew from PA for our trip today. We were fortunate to start in a good spot and it was game on from the beginning.

Choppy this morning but we were able to fish down sea on a color change hat was holding big time !!

It seemed like everybody got involved and a good time was had by all.

Tight lines
After a few days off it was nice to get back out there with Tom Love and his good crew.

We were very fortunate to start in the right spot and the guys knew what to do when the rods started bending.

That is one of the nicest catches of mahi I've had in a while. Great job guys.

We have Monday and Tuesday open and the weather looks nice. Let us know if you want to give it a try.

Thanks for checking in
We fished sat sun and Monday with very limited results. Many thanks to our groups for their patience.

Bob Gary and Paul have gotten them before and will again Saturday we caught a couple of yellowfin and dolphin.

Sunday a couple of dolphin and a limit of blue line tiles and released an 8 ft hammerhead shark.

Monday we caught a 100 pound mako and a nice yellowfin.

Steady weather is coming this weekend and fishing has picked up the last day or so for the handful of boats that were booked.

Saturday April 26

Thanks to our new friend Scott for getting together a super group of guys for a days fishing. The breeze in the morning made it choppy but settled by lunchtime. As you can see the yellowfin made a showing as we caught 10. Good to see some yellowfin. We also caught a 100 pound mako for the grill. Thanks for a great day fellas !!!!
Friday April 25

Thanks to Charlie for bringing some fellas down from Baltimore to go fishing. It was a gorgeous day and we all had fun. The tuna were hiding but we found some nice gaffer dolphin. Big Mike Dahl caught a 35 pound citation bull. We also caught a limit of blue line tiles for the dinner table.
After a few blowouts and some free days we finally made it out east of the inlet We had a great group of folks on board all the way from New York to South Carolina. The tuna were too big for our 80 wides. Thankfully we had 130 pound line on our reels. There were 3 boats out and we all were hooked up all day long. Everybody took turns in the chair battling these beasts from 500 to 700 pounds. Special congrats to David Teague of Charleston for battling our biggest fish an est. 700 pounder to the boat !!!! Certainly a day we will all remember. Give us a shout to plan your trip Dave
The nice sized puppy drum have moved in and they are biting. This pic is from last Friday.

Offshore the handful of boats that got out he latter part of last week did well on the bluefin.

Anywhere from 75 pounds to 400 pounders. You can still keep one under 73 inches which is a 200 pounder roughly or smaller. We have had a couple of trips that have hotter blown out

We are starting to book up for May June and July so give us a call if you want to get your trip in for yellowfin and big gaffer dolphin

Thanks for checking in
