My guess is we should continue to see higher releases into the West Branch through September. This is because the lake level for Lake Wallenpaupack is currently 1179.3 feet. The October 1st lake level target is 1179 feet, so generation will be light so Brookfield Renewable (the power company) can continue to generate through October. They don't want to bring the lake below the October target. This is water that enters the river via the Lackawaxen River, well upriver of the Montague, NJ target.

Keep in mind that my guess is just that, a guess.
A photo from yesterday as we pulled off the river as water temps started to rise to the Upper 60's. A little breeze blew a bunch of leaves off the trees reminding us that although it was as hot as July, it was really mid September.
Yesterday started out with a decent water flow, then it was quickly reduced by 30%. Thanks in a big part to those who put the pressure on to turn the water on, today there's about 40% of yesterday's lost 30% back. In other words, a small bump in the flow. Water temps are high in the main stem, lower West Branch, & lower East Branch. If you're out fishing today please try to avoid those areas. A stream thermometer is a good tool to carry.
NYC dropped the release from Cannonsville to 200 cfs. This damage to the Upper Delaware ecosystem & economy is being done on purpose and on spite. Reservoir storage is over 10% of normal while air temp are well above threatening the cold water fishery. If they don't change, it just won't be no more shuttles for Chico the Shuttle Guy. Great to spend time on the water with Marty & Bob yesterday. There weren't any gimmies yesterday but the guys didn't need them 🙂
The River Master called for water to meet the Montague, NJ target. It'll probably be timed for when Lake Wallenpaupack starts generating power again. You can get that info at: (800) 807-2474
Summerlike day on the river today.
Looks like a warm water day. Get those stream thermometers out and bail out at 68F.
