Happy, Happy, Happy is the only way to describe how I am feeling now! The Fall fishing bite is in full swing, which means every place you try it is not hard to get a bite. This time is the best inshore fishing of the year. Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder are jumping on the hooks. The only requirement is decent weather and folks wanting to go. I am ready and willing.
Bull Red season was a big disappointment for me as I did not land one on any of my charters. Seems most of the Bulls stayed offshore. Anyway, we are getting into prime time in the lowcountry for the inshore slam variety of fish, Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder. I took my flats boat out today to try out the trolling motor I installed and it works great. While out I took the opportunity to do some scouting since I was by myself and had time. It took awhile but I did find a large number of Redfish and Sheepshead feeding on top of some big oyster beds back in a small creek protected from the wind. Not many things more fun than a 30
What do you do when the Bull Reds show up, Yep, open up a can of Whoopass Jigs on them! As promised, they are here.
October, leaves are changing, shrimp are getting fat, cool breezes and Whopper Redfish are not far from the dock. The running of the Bulls is on and will last for several weeks in shore, let's test your arm muscles.
Cobia season 2014 came in like a lamb but is roaring out like a Lion. 3 trips for Cobia sight fishing for a little more than a hour each trip and 4 Cobia to the boat. Only 1 real large fish but the 3 small ones gave us some exciting bites. Check out the happy faces on the two boys below. They decided it takes 4 hands to handle a whopper not 2. Quote of the day
The smile says it All!
Takes two hands to handle a Whopper!
Where is the Beef? Well last week I had some great young men from Shaw Air force Base drive 2 and 1/2 hours for a 1/2 day fishing trip. It looked like we were going to have a slow day but the last spot began to produce and we ended strong with a bunch of right at the top of the slot Redfish. We also caught lots of shorts and a few over the slot. Because of the company, this might have been the most fun trip of the year. Glad more of our military men are coming home!
