The sky ahead of the cold front yesterday afternoon was spectacular in the quail woods.
Wishing all of our Cabin Bluff family a Happy Halloween!! We found out that our Golf Course Superintendent not only does a great job with our course, but is an outstanding pumpkin carver! Thanks Andy.
Post-Hurricane Matthew to-do list! Thanks for everyone who reached out to find out how we fared through the storm. We have some clean-up to do - trees down and some marsh debris in the lawn, but all structures are intact and standing. So, today will be a different kind of activity day for us, but we are looking forward to getting things back in tiptop shape for our next guests. Our thoughts are with those who were not so fortunate.
Stretched some string today. Found several of these guys. Released.
While splitting firewood today we wondered how many stories would be told around the coals from this wood...and how many memories would be made. It's hard to leave Cabin Bluff without both!
This is 1 of the 7 tarpon that Bonefish & Tarpon Trust scientists surgically implanted acoustic tags in during our 3rd Annual Tarpon Cup Tournament this past weekend. The tags send out signals for 5-7 years allowing the scientists to track their movement. This data will provide much insight to tarpon biology and how we can better manage them. Cabin Bluff, Hell's Bay Boatworks and Fish Hippie were VERY excited to help catch & tag these fish and can't wait to see the results!! btw- this tarpon was estimated to be 150 lbs.
Had an exhausted guest today after doing battle with his first tarpon ever (est 125lbs fish). It was like collapsing after crossing the finish line of a marathon! Another fun morning at Cabin Bluff
Relaying a live update from Captain Ron who's on the water now....
