Clients had a good day yesterday, tougher bite but patience paid off with a great batch of perch. Hopefully with the warmer temperatures the bite will pick up on all the lakes here at the IGL. We have the last Sunday of February open if you want to get in on the action. Call Shane Akin 712-330-0085. Great Lakes Guide Service, we are starting to book trips for the upcoming open water season, call to reserve your dates and let us help make fishing memories.
The 32 MAG L-F by Eyeconic Fishing is an awesome perch rod. Sensitive tip with a great hook setting back bone. Putting some nice Iowa gold top side today! Tougher bite with cold front condition but still getting some dandy's.
Got out for a couple hours today, drilled a couple holes and sat tight with the blizzard there was no moving around. Good batch for a quick trip.
I have had several people ask me were i am catching perch this year, and some have even offered to pay for way points. I chuckle every time, not that I don't want to help them out but that the way points most likely wouldn't do them any good. You see perch fishing is a lot like hunting and that is why I love it so much. Were we started catching perch this year and were we are now is almost a mile apart. Perch roam and when you get big crowds out on them they move. When you see these big groups they are there for a reason they are catching fish or are they!! Some are catching but most are struggling and most likely getting a lot of smaller perch. When you get on the ice and see the big groups do your self a favor and get off the side of them at least 100 yards. I would bet money that you will catch more perch and bigger fish. I have attached an article I wrote a couple years ago, a lot of what is in it works ice fishing as well. Remember your hunting out there, so move and move and drill and drill. I am always open and willing to help anyone out, I don't black out pictures or try to hide. So please feel free to come over and ask if you need help or text me. With that said, anytime you see a guide out on the ice or water if it is here on the IGL or somewhere else please respect what they are doing and give them space. There #1 goal is to bring joy and happiness to there client and #2 this is how they make a living so they can bring joy to there family and loved ones. Again feel free to ask any questions and you may have, my door is always open to help fellow outdoors men and lady's. 712-330-0085.
