Slow day for us until the afternoon, then all hell broke loose. Double header Blue Marlin tearing the water up. Had a third in the spread crashing a Spanish Mackerel on the short rigger. Luckily that fish didn't get hooked. Two at a time is enough, especially with only two anglers in the party. Can't tell you how long it took, never looked at the clock. The first one was 550+, the second around 400. Unfortunately we couldn't revive the second one. We tried for 15 minutes, but it went belly up. Got it iced down on the deck.

The Dolphin fishing was a little scrappy yesterday but we did end up catching 15 for Preston Sudduth and crew. Found two different weed lines to fish yesterday and missed a Blue Marlin in between them.

We set out with all intention of finding something big for Cassie Sanford to tug on. We accomplished that in one way and not in another. We found what we were looking for, the ole girl raised a 400 pounder in the spread. Hunter did a great job feeding it and getting a hook set. Unfortunately, sometimes no matter how good everybody does their job fish do get off. The fish went completely airborne twice, shaking its head until it finally shook the hook loose. We never saw a second one.
We did manage to get her a big fish though. She got the first citation Dolphin of the year aboard this boat. 37lb Bull Dolphin hit the lightest rod on the boat, but she did a great job bringing it along the boat and within gaff range.

Well, we got another one today. This one swam away healthy though. About a 300 pounder. Bobby Copson did a great job during the whole fight, especially considering the fish took us pretty low on the spool within seconds. The fish stayed on top and the lack of wind helped make it easy to back around on the fish and regain most of the line fairly quick. We got to the swivel in about 20 minutes and broke the leader in another 5 after that.
Unfortunately, dolphin fishing was a lot slower today.
